Day Six: July 9, 2010

Hey, everyone!

Today was the last day of my first round of classes. Things I've learned this week:
-The Cambridge International Summer Program was started 1923
-"Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen was originally written as a series of letters, but was revised before printing
-"Gargantua and Pantagruel" by Rabelais might be one of those most intense books ever written

I'm sure if I were to grab my notes and go through them there would be tons of those cool and exciting things that I've learned, but it's 1:10 in the morning and I'm just not going to do that.

During my lunch break, I went (again) to that fantastic market in the town square:
I wanted to buy myself flowers so badly, but I have nowhere to put them. They were all absolutely gorgeous, though.

I bought a bunch of fun stuff, among them is this little guy. He's a change purse and he's fantastic.

After dinner, I went with a couple of other girls to this outdoor music festival/carnival thing:

It was behind this pretty building.

While I didn't do this, it did look like a whole lot of fun!

I thought that this cotton candy stand was absolutely beautiful.

Soooo many people. Most of them were locals, which was really cool. Everything we've been doing has been very tourist-y; it's nice to know that people actually LIVE here and don't just visit from other places.

I did get to see some fireworks. Courtney and I wished each other a Happy (late) July 4th and toasted to America.

Afterward we went to this cool swanky nightclub/bar. On the first floor was a very trendy bar area with comfy couches and whatnot. On the second floor was a dance floor. On the third floor was an outdoor terrace to overlook the city.

Incredibly unflattering photo of us drinking a pitcher of... something orange-y.

That's all I've got for today, but tomorrow there will be TONS of photos, so get ready!!
