Day Two: July 5, 2010

Hola!
(or should I say, "Cheerio, Chap!")

I've got little to report today--it was full of classes.

Breakfast at 7:45
Introduction meeting at 8:15
Jane Austen II at 9:15
Plenary Lecture at 11:15
Rabelais at 2:00
Paper Evaluation Meeting at 4:00
Dinner at 6:30

This is a photo of my buddy--who walked halfway to class with me this morning:

Ducky!

Dinner was decent--MUCH better than last night.
Fruit Salad
Salmon
Custard Merengue

After dinner, I took a nice little stroll around the block. Few stores were open--it seems most of their "summer hours" are only til 6:00.

This is what I saw:

I'm not entirely sure what this building is, but it's pretty.

One of the many churches that surround Cambridge.

Another church? A college perhaps? No idea. But it's pretty.

The entrance into the courtyard that my bedroom overlooks.

Finally, this is what my college looks like from the street.
Ain't it pretty?

Some cute little lane that I walked through...

... one more.

One final note, all of these today's photos (except the duck) were taken after 9 o'clock at night. It seems the sun doesn't set until after 10 and rises well before 4 a.m. It's crazy.

Anyway, I'm off to the pub to get a cider.
Cheers!

Some post-cider, nighttime Cambridge photos:

  2. Roni!
I'm doing a whole English literature program. I have two classes a day that change each week.

This week is Jane Austen (Northanger Abbey and Emma)and Rabelais, next week is Jane Austen (Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility) and Don Quixote. The next week is Jane Austen (Persuasion and Manfield Park) and James Joyce's Dubliners. And my last week is "Happiness in the 18th Century" and "Comedy in Shakespeare."

I'm here for a month and it's super exciting. I'm visiting Canterbury on Saturday! So you'll see lots of pictures Saturday night.
